Or rest and enjoy the comforts of the house.

  • Beach swimming is April through to November. Other times between supervised net areas or in the pool.
  • 4 mile beach activity is a holiday in itself.
  • Bikes can be hired and they will deliver them to you.
  • Car hire and 4WD is available but book in advance with Avis, budget or others.
  • There is every restaurant imaginable, mostly very good to excellent and with very friendly service.
  • The World Heritage Barrier reef has long and short trips with snorkel or scuba diving or just swimming or looking.
  • The Marina and old wharf area is continuously active with restaurants and boats.
  • Charter boats for fishing and sailing or excursions.
  • Cooktown via the coast in the dry season is an adventure in itself. "Highly recommended"
    Best to stay overnight to take it all in but not mandatory. "You will not be sorry"
  • The Zoos and Bird park and Hartley's Creek Crocodile Farm are all well worth a visit.
  • Mirage Resort is well worth visiting it is Just a short walk down the beach and up into the Mirage.
  • The Sunday markets are legendary and a must do.
  • Macrossan street is famous for its old pubs, food and tropical fashions and cosmopolitan life style.
     
  • Golf at Port Douglas
    Golf
    can be played on two classic courses with hire clubs. They are both very good.

  • Venture the many coastal areas between Cairns and Port Douglas or Travel inland.
  • Inland beyond Port Douglas there are historic old mining towns, wet lands teaming with birds, rivers, marine and wildlife to explore.
  • The World heritage Daintree rain forest offers days of activity as do the rivers.
  • The nearby historic town of Mossman is a beautiful 15 minute drive through the cane fields and the amazing daintree backdrop and sky. Follow the coast road from the butchers shop back to Port Douglas. But take your time.
  • Mossman River & water falls with rain forest walks whilst you are there is a must.
  • Just hanging about is a great way to enjoy your holiday.
  • There is lots lots more and really needs months to do it all.
